As an artist I create my work under the name DzR.
I began my interest in art using photography as my medium, firstly using 35mm, then a
DSLR camera, concentrated on photo-shoots with female form as my subject matter
and also taking photographs of the natural world in parks and the countryside.

My first 3D pieces were relief works in casting
plaster, and this allowed me to gain an understanding of
how the 3D world worked.
As I mentioned
above, I carried out many photo-shoots with the female body as my subject and I wanted to see if
I could create sculptures of the female form too.
Initially using plaster as my medium, I made a series of 8 life size torsos using individual
female models.
Then
discovering clay for the first time, I created a limited run of fantasy
helmet sculptures that allowed me my first experiences with glazing, and all
the heartache that can entail, as often the final result can be very different from what was expected.
From here I began to create the figurative sculptures shown on these pages
The pieces shown on these pages are part of my continuing experiments with fired clay
and a variety of glazes and glazing techniques.
I create limited edition sculptures, usually no more than 12 of any sculpture, with every piece being
unique and individual due to the glazing and final finish
ensuring no two are the same.
I am happy to carry out personal commissions for sculpture of yourself and these can be one off's or if you
allow can be used to make a new limited edition.
Below, is a rare photo of myself next to my Degree show installation.
